CEWE is extending Europe's most modern printing site in Dresden

  • Concentration of production at Saxoprint in Dresden enhances production efficiency
  • Expansion of sales activities at LASERLINE in Berlin
  • CEWE 2019 Group EBIT expected to be clearly at the top end of the target corridor of up to 58 million euros in spite of one-off expenditure for rearrangement activities in commercial online printing

Berlin/Dresden/Oldenburg, 22 January 2020. CEWE Stiftung & Co. KGaA (SDAX, ISIN: DE 0005403901), Europe's photofinishing market leader and commercial online printing specialist, is reinforcing its Dresden printing site: as of mid-year, a major share of the orders placed with Berlin printing specialist LASERLINE, a full subsidiary of CEWE Stiftung & Co. KGaA, is also to be produced at Saxoprint in the Saxon capital. In the past few years, CEWE has developed Saxoprint to make it Europe's most modern online printing enterprise. In the business segment of commercial online printing, a staff of more than 500 employees produces and markets commercial printing products in nine European countries.

Highly efficient production at Saxoprint in Dresden
Nothing will change for customers with LASERLINE in Berlin: the usual quality of service and sales as well as direct collection will remain unchanged. Nor will there be any comprising of the efficiency and quality of the LASERLINE range of products and services. Sales in Berlin are also to be considerably expanded. In relocating its production to Saxoprint in Dresden, CEWE is boosting other synergies in terms of a more efficient printing process. Carsten Heitkamp, Personnel and Production Director at CEWE: "We see positive perspectives for growth for commercial online printing in the coming years, with our range of sales brands targeting different customer groups and our production being concentrated at Saxoprint in Dresden. This strategy puts us in a good position for the future.

CEWE Group EBIT for 2019 expected to reach clearly the upper target of 58 million euros
The employees working in Production at LASERLINE, numbering around 60, have been offered continued employment with Saxoprint in Dresden or at other CEWE Group production locations. In Berlin, the scheduled increase in employment in the area of sales and service is to compensate for the effect of concentrating production in Dresden, with all the costs incurred as part of this reorganisation already having been accounted for and accrued in the CEWE consolidated income for 2019. In spite of these one-off costs, CEWE expects its Group EBIT to be clearly at the top end of the target corridor planned for 2019 in the amount of up to 58 million euros. CEWE will probably be publishing its preliminary figures for Group turnover and Group EBIT as early as on 6 February 2020.
