TF1 GROUP AND BEIN SPORTS REACH AGREEMENT ON BROADCASTING THE IHF WORLD
HANDBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS
The TF1 Group has acquired from beIN SPORTS the broadcasting right to several
matches from the IHF men's and women's World Handball Championship during the
2019 and 2025 period (4 men's tournaments and 4 women's tournaments).
The TF1 group will be the exclusive free-to-air broadcaster, in each of the
competitions, of 3 matches of the French national team during the pool phases
(preliminary phase and main competition) as well as 1/2F in case of
participation of the French national team, up to 4 meetings of the French teams
for each edition. In addition, the TF1 group will broadcast, exclusively
free-to-air, the final of the men's and women's Handball World Handball
Championships if France reaches that stage. All these matches will be
co-screened by beIN SPORTS.
beIN SPORTS had previously acquired the rights of the entirety of the IHF World
Men's and Women's Handball Championships from Lagardère Sports, the agency
retained by the IHF, for the 2019-2025 period. beIN SPORTS will therefore
broadcast exclusively all the others meetings of the Teams of France.
The TF1 Group had previously acquired from Lagardère Sports the rights to
carry free-to-air coverage of any finals of the Men's and Women's IHF World
Handball Championships from 2019 to 2025 in the event of the participation of
the French team.
