Campaign underscores the urgency and need to support early career osteopathic family physicians.
CHICAGO, IL / ACCESSWIRE / April 3, 2024 / The American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians (ACOFP) Foundation officially launches its fundraising campaign, Family Medicine Forward. This new campaign aims to provide expanded leadership development support for early career osteopathic family physicians and future leader alumni, as well as address critical barriers within the profession, including increased representation in our communities and enhanced patient support.
"The purpose of the new Family Medicine Forward campaign is to address the evolving healthcare landscape and emphasize the critical role early career osteopathic family physicians play in shaping the future of osteopathic family medicine in perpetuity," said Paul A. Martin, DO, FACOFP dist., ACOFP Foundation President. "The ACOFP Foundation firmly believes that well-trained osteopathic family physicians, with the appropriate leadership skills and mentoring, are in the best position to improve the health of their patients longitudinally and in turn the communities that they serve."
ACOFP Foundation is dedicated to nurturing and empowering future physicians through a series of programs supported by the Family Medicine Forward campaign. The campaign kicks off at the ACOFP's 61st Annual Convention & Scientific Seminars in New Orleans and will aim to raise funds for three years. It will support programs that have been numerously requested by early career physicians, including Future Leaders Next Level Conferences, one-on-one coaching, formal mentorship, alumni networking, leadership opportunities and more.
"As dedicated stewards of ACOFP, our role extends beyond patient care," shared Carol L. Henwood, DO, FACOFP dist., ACOFP Foundation Director and Chair of the campaign. "It involves nurturing and mentoring the future leaders of our profession who will carry forward our legacy. This campaign is designed to empower and support the next generation and in doing so, ensure not just skilled osteopathic family physicians, but visionary leaders. By engaging in this initiative, donors contribute to ensuring the future of our profession for years to come."
