They are between the ages of 15 and 18, and they are eager to experience American culture, family life, school, sports, and more. They also enjoy sharing their own culture and language with their host families, who open their homes to them as if they were members of their own families. This provides everyone involved with a rich cultural experience.
Host families can be single parents, couples, or single people. Exchange students arrive with pocket money for personal expenses and full health, accident, and liability insurance. ASSE students are chosen based on their academic and personal qualities, and host families choose their students from a wide range of backgrounds, nations, and interests.
