ALVAREZ & MARSAL TAX APPOINTS MANAGING DIRECTOR DR KERSTEN HONOLD TO LEAD NEW SWISS PRACTICE

Firm to build team of corporate and private equity tax experts in Switzerland led by adviser with more than 20 years of experience

Zurich, 11 January 2024 – Alvarez & Marsal Tax (A&M Tax), an affiliate of global professional services firm Alvarez & Marsal (A&M), has brought on board Dr Kersten Honold as a Managing Director to build and lead its expansion into the Swiss market.

Joining A&M from more than two decades with EY, Dr Honold serves as a trusted adviser in international and transaction tax. With expertise in carve-outs, divestments, leveraged acquisitions as well as global restructurings, he covers all aspects of M&A deals and specialises in post-deal services.

Dr Honold has supported multinationals with headquarters, principal, trading, IP, holding or finance companies in Switzerland across sectors, from life sciences, chemicals and natural resources to consumer goods, automotive and energy. The senior practitioner has also led numerous negotiations with Swiss tax authorities and governmental bodies.

A partner with EY for more than a decade, Dr Honold led its Transaction Tax practice in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Before that, he built and led the firm’s International Tax practice in Central Switzerland and worked at its Swiss desk in New York. He acted as responsible Global Client Service Partner and/or Global Tax Account Leader for several Swiss-based multinationals and G360 accounts across sectors and he advised on IPOs and public-to-private transactions. A dual Swiss and German citizen, Dr Honold is fluent in German, English, French, and Spanish.
